We Are Not Alone – Part 2

Inside Kirby’s house, Larry could still be seen, fainted. Next to him were Kirsy and Daisy, as they looked at each other.

“Will a Maxim Tomato really be enough?” asked Kirsy.

“Yes,” Daisy answered. “If your report regarding his stamina is right, that is.”

“I’ve never been wrong before!” Kirsy said, proudly.

“How do you even sense others’ stamina, anyway?” Daisy asked.

Kirsy thought for a moment, then said, “Well, I dunno… I can just kinda do it, and I’ve been able to as long as I remember.”

“Interesting… I would like to know more about that someday, but this really isn’t the time.”

“Yeah, yeah. I need to go find a Maxim Tomato. Thanks agai—”

“ZZZZ…”

Kirsy was interrupted by a loud snore. She looked towards its source, only to find Keeby napping very near where they were.

“Ah, he’s finally asleep. Good timing.”

“Hmm?” Daisy didn’t understand. “Why is that?”

“Oh,” Kirsy looked at Daisy, “well, you see, this right here is Keeby. He sometimes has a memory breakdown: he slowly loses his memory, until he gets so tired he goes to sleep. When he wakes up, he remembers everything again. We never found out why this happens, so at this point, we’ve accepted it as something normal and got used to it.”

Daisy looked at Keeby and said, “Huh, I see…”

“She can sense stamina, and he loses his memory sometimes… And we’re the strange kirbies?” thought Daisy.

“In fact,” Kirsy continued, “I said it was good timing because when he has no memory but is awake I need to take care of him, otherwise he may get lost. But now that he’s asleep, I can go out without any worries.”

“So you will just leave him with the fainted Larry?” asked Daisy, looking again at Kirsy.

“Yeah? I mean, you will be outside with your friends, right?”

“Oh, true!” Daisy remembered and agreed, “Yes, we can watch over the house.”

“Great, thank you! And with that, I’m off.”

And so, Kirsy left the house, and Daisy followed her. Keeby and Larry were left inside, both still unconscious.

As Kirsy exited the house, she was already filled with thoughts, “Hmm, a Maxim Tomato… I can easily find one in Onion Garden, so I best head there as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Daisy noticed Anny playing with Clare.

“Ready?” asked Anny, who was on a small hill near the house, holding her wand.

“Ready!” answered Clare, who was on a floating mirror, just next to the hill Anny was on.

“Alright.” Anny waved her hand. “We are…” she raised it upwards, “…going up!”

Following Anny’s wand’s movements, the mirror rose and lifted Clare up. As she was moving, she shouted, “Wheee! So fun!” The mirror stopped as soon as Clare reached Anny’s height.

Daisy, who had just watched the whole scene, did a timid smile, but wondered to herself, “Are they going somewhere?”

“Hey, you three!”

Who was calling their attention was Kirsy, who was already riding a Warp Star, ready to take off any second. “Are any of you coming with me?” she asked.

“Sorry, I am busy having fun!” said Clare with a smile, as she jumped towards Anny, up in the hill.

Anny shrugged. “I think I will just stay here with Clare,” she said.

Daisy sighed, and said looking at Kirsy, “We will all stay here and make sure the house is safe until you’re back.”

Kirsy nodded. “Alright, fair enough. See you later then!” She took off riding the Warp Star, and disappeared in a flash.

Daisy watched as she left, and then had her eyes on Anny, who was still standing above the hill. “Hey, where is Clare?” she asked.

“Well, she wanted to pass this small hill and go over there,” Anny answered. “I have no clue why, but she asked me, so I figured why not.”

“Alright, but we can’t do that right now,” Daisy said. “We have to stay here near the house and make sure it’s safe…”

“But it is safe! Plus, we are near the house anyway! Well, kinda. Anyway!” Anny lowered her wand, and she made a small mirror appear near the floor. “Ride this mirror and I will bring you up here, and we can go after Clare together.”

“No.” Daisy looked away from Anny. “It’s not right to neglect the request from that kirby. Also, we have two vulnerable kirbies inside the house. I won’t just ignore that.”

Anny took a quick pause to think about what Daisy had just said to her, and then said, “Man, I hate to admit that you do have a point…” She looked backwards looking for Clare. “Hey, Clare!”

For only a couple seconds, no eyes were on Anny’s floating mirror. At least, no visible eyes. While Anny and Daisy were looking somewhere else, someone jumped from behind the bush near it, grabbed it, and went back to their hiding place with it.

“Ugh, she went far away…” Anny looked back at Daisy. “Fine, I will go after her, and tell her we are staying near the house. That fine with yo— Huh?”

Anny waved her wand a couple times, and noticed nothing was happening. She looked down and noticed her floating mirror was simply gone.

“Daisy, did you grab my mirror?” she asked her.

“Hmm, no…” Daisy said. “Did you not make it disappear?”

“I’m pretty sure I did not… Odd. Am I misremembering?”

“Perhaps you accidentally did when you went to call Clare.”

“Maybe…” Anny really didn’t know what happened, but she didn’t want to lose her train of thought, so she continued, “Well, that’s not important anyway. Ahem, as I was saying, is it fine if I go after Clare and ask her to come here with us?”

Daisy nodded. “Yes, go ahead. I will stay here near the house in the meantime.”

“Great. I will be going then. See ya!”

And so Anny turned around and went after Clare, like she said she would.

Daisy stood still in a thoughtful pose. “Odd, I swear I just heard a sound… Maybe my imagination…”

She looked around to see if anyone was near her, but she was completely alone. That’s when she realized and thought, “Wait, where did Grace go?”

Far from the house, Grace was just walking straight ahead. She stopped at a seemingly random spot, and started looking around. However, there was nothing unusual in said spot: it was still the same grassy field that filled most of Green Greens.

“Strange…” she thought. “There is nothing out of place here… But no mistake, if I had a prediction, then surely enough something will happe—”

As if out of instinct, Grace stopped her own thoughts, grabbed a bomb, and got in an attack position, and started looking around. She was sure she would get attacked any second now.

Grace spotted a subtle light come from behind one of the bushes near her, so she threw a bomb towards it. However, half a second after she threw it, a big rainbow colored orb surrounded her. A second later, her thrown bomb hit her target, who screamed, “GAHHHH!”

Grace looked around, and noticed her situation: she was trapped inside the floating orb. She threw a bomb against it, but nothing happened. As she readied a second one to throw, she noticed someone was coming from behind the bushes.

“Ugh, Grace, you really aren’t to be underestimated…” With his left hand on his head, and his right one holding a wand, the white kirby, Panee, was finally visible to Grace. She noticed he wore some sort of blue and purple jester hat, which looked exactly like Anny’s own hat. “But anyway, I captured you, and that’s what matters! Hehehe…” he finished saying.

Grace had no idea who that kirby was, but she knew he had to be up to no good, so she just kept staring at him. Panee noticed, and chuckled.

“Oh, what are you going to do, Grace? Use your ‘sixth sense’ to get out of there? Hehehe…”

Grace kept her cool, as she realized there wasn’t really much she could do. She made the bomb she was holding disappear, and sat down.

“So you’re admitting defeat?” asked Panee. “Well, I never expected you to give up so quickly, but I suppose you are smart…”

Panee looked around for a couple seconds, as if looking for something. Shortly after, he looked back at Grace, and said, “Well Grace, the others aren’t around, so I will have to go find them. Do stay quiet, okay? I shouldn’t take long.”

And so Panee walked away, in the opposite direction of Kirby’s house.

When he was very far away, Grace got up, and started trying to analyze the orb. “What a solid orb…” she thought. “But it’s somehow so light… What is going on?” She touched it and looked at it closer, and thought, “Hmm, wait, why does it look familiar?” She stopped to try to remember, “I think…” and then she did, “Can’t Anny make orbs like this? And that kirby had a hat just like Anny’s… Well, this can’t be a coincidence…” As she attempted to piece the two pieces of information together, she also remembered, “Oh, right, didn’t Kirby say something about that? Copy Abilities, I believe?” So she came to a conclusion, “So, if Anny has the same Copy Ability as that kirby, maybe she can make this orb disappear? If maybe I can find her…”

Grace looked around, trying to find Anny, or one of her friends, but she couldn’t spot any kirby at all. She remembered that she last saw Anny near Kirby’s house, which was the opposite direction of the way the white Kirby went, so she thought, “Well, she can get here without him finding her, hmm…”

However, Grace wasn’t quite sure how. “Well,” she thought, “how do I even get someone to come here… Oh, maybe…” She shook her head. “Wait, no, I can’t do that! I am doing this for a greater cause…” But then Grace realized what would happen if she did nothing, so she thought, “But if I stay here trapped, maybe that will be all in vain…” She closed her eyes. “So, indeed… I guess I should.”

Grace took a deep breath, and screamed as loud as she could, “ANNY, CLARE, DAISY, HELP ME!!!”

As Daisy was asking Clare and Anny, who had just gotten back, if they had seen Grace, the three heard a shout.

“Was that… Grace’s voice??” Daisy said out loud.

“Wait… Grace’s voice?!” Anny asked, in shock.

“Wait, what?” asked Clare, confused.

“GRACE’s voice?!” Anny asked one more time, this time directly looking at Daisy. “What are you talking about?! She’s mute!”

“It’s her voice,” said Daisy, thoughtful. “There’s no mistaking it.”

“But like Anny said, Grace is mute!” Clare said. “She doesn’t talk!”

“No, she doesn’t like to talk!” Daisy clarified. “There is a huge difference there.”

“Wait, so… She doesn’t talk by choice?!” Anny asked, in shock.

“Pretty much,” Daisy said.

“But… Why?! I would never be able to do that…” Clare said, confused.

“Well, I do have a hunch regarding that…” Daisy said. “But we are wasting time here! She screamed asking for our help! And since she avoids talking, this must be serious!”

“Oh, right, right.” Anny pointed forwards. “Her scream came from this direction, right? So let’s go!”

And so the three ran towards the direction of that shout. Despite not showing it, Daisy was actually really worried about her friend, as she knew Grace would only do something like that if she had no other choice. “Here is hoping it’s nothing that bad…” she thought, as she continued running.
