Midnight Madness – Part 4

The inside of Kirby’s house was overall pretty quiet. While some snores could be heard, no overly loud noises could. Every kirby inside it was sleeping well.

There was one exception, however. Although not long ago she was indeed sleeping peacefully, Clare had just started turning around, still sleeping, with a distressed face on. She was tightly hugging Caio, her Chilly plush.

Minutes before, she had started dreaming of having the Mirror ability and lifting herself up with a floating mirror, as she brought Caio along for the ride. Anny, her best friend, was also floating alongside her with her own mirror. Clare was having the time of her life. However, Anny had just suddenly disappeared, and Clare was desperately looking for her. She wasn’t having any luck, and got desperate.

As Clare continued looking for Anny, she accidentally let go of Caio, and he fell off. When she realized that, she also accidentally slipped and fell off the mirror. As she was falling, she got desperate and tried to summon a mirror, but she realized she had the Ice ability back again. Desperate, she started screaming endlessly.

“!”

In a blink, Clare opened her eyes. Still a bit sleepy, she slowly realized it had all been a dream. “Oh… Yeah… A nightmare…”

As she came back to her senses, she sat down and hugged Caio. “Well, it was just a dream… Aww, I already miss being able to summon and ride mirrors like Anny…”

That was when Clare looked forward, and realized Anny wasn’t where she was when she fell asleep. “Hmm,” she thought, “where is Anny?”

Clare got up and looked around. From her position she could see some kirbies, but none of them were Anny. “Hmm, did she go sleep somewhere else?” she thought. “But weird, why would she do that?”

Curious and worried about her friend, Clare decided to go look for Anny. She grabbed her ice crown and put it on her head, and left Caio behind.

She looked around and saw how cramped the current room she was in was. It wasn’t a small room, but it wasn’t that big either, and as such the kirbies inside were close to each other, making it hard for her to walk around. With that in mind, she started to walk slowly around them, looking for Anny, while she looked at every single kirby sleeping inside, in hopes that one of them would actually be Anny.

Right next to where she was sleeping earlier were Daisy and Grace. Daisy was sleeping with a pillow and a blanket, while Grace was just sleeping on the floor. Daisy looked as if she was talking to herself in her sleep, while in contrast Grace wasn’t even moving. Clare quietly made her way around the two, and continued walking towards the room’s other side, still looking for Anny.

On the way, not much after, she found the trio of Jake, Zan and Valoo. Valoo, as usual, was sleeping like a rock. Jake was also sleeping peacefully, and snoring a bit quietly. And while Zan also seemed to be sleeping well, he was moving the most out of the three, as if he couldn’t stand still. Not finding Anny, Clare also walked around them, making note in particular not to disturb Zan’s light sleep.

Continuing walking forward, Clare saw Matt, Natty and Tim sleeping close to each other, but still fairly spread out. Tim could not stop rolling around, Natty occasionally flapped her wings, and Clare noticed light smoke came out once from Matt’s jackpack. Clare wondered if perhaps all three were racing in their dreams, as she slowly walked around them, still looking for Anny.

Almost at the other side of the room, which had its exit door, Clare saw Raven and Dana. The two were very close together, and Dana was sleeping hugging her parasol. Clare also noticed Percy and Yan were sleeping near them, as if protecting the two: while Percy was sitting down right next to the door, holding his yo-yo, Yan was somehow lying on the wall at the top of the door, as if glued on it. While Clare had no clue how he was doing it, she figured it was likely with their ninja skills.

Noticing that Anny wasn’t indeed in the room she was in, Clare decided to go look elsewhere. She went through the door slowly, and found herself in the large corridor of the house. She saw that a couple kirbies were sleeping there, but she couldn’t see much further ahead due to the darkness. She started to make her way through the corridor, while she once again looked for Anny.

Right next to the door she came from she saw Daniel, Drake and Diego. Drake’s hammer and Diego’s sword had been put aside, but in particular Diego was still very close to their sword, as if guarding it. Clare noticed that Daniel couldn’t stand still in his sleep: his arms and feet kept moving like he was training. Anyway, not finding Anny, she continued walking through the corridor.

At the end of it, next to a ladder, Clare found Larry, Leo and Luke. While Leo and Luke had removed their hats to sleep, just like Clare herself had done before, Larry had not, and was sleeping with his hat with a blade at the top, despite the danger. And so, realizing those were all the kirbies in the corridor, Clare had no choice but to climb up the ladder and go to the next room.

Climbing up the ladder, Clare got to the top room, which only had Kirby, Kirsy and Keeby sleeping. While Kirby was drooling, probably dreaming about food, Kirsy and Keeby were sleeping quietly and peacefully.

Noticing that she had reached the last room of the house, Clare found it strange to not have found Anny. “Where could she be?” she thought. “Maybe… outside?”

Not being able to think of anywhere else she could be, Clare decided to go outside. She slowly made her way through the room, careful to not wake anyone up. As she stepped outside, she looked around and, indeed, didn’t find anyone.

“This is so odd…” she thought. “Did she go somewhere?”

As Clare wondered about that, she did a long yawn. Even though minutes before she had lost her sleepiness due to Anny’s disappearance, it appeared that all that walking had made her sleepy once again.

“Well,” she started to think, “if she’s not inside the house, then she must have left…” She sat down, and leant on a wall of the house’s entrance. “I will wait for her then.”

Being tired, and not having much else to do, Clare simply closed her eyes, and in a matter of seconds she was asleep once again.
